Stanage

Decided to head to Stanage this morning, the weather forecast was good. We ended heading to the plantation area and the warm up route was cold on the hands, but as the day progressed it warmed up nicely and we had a good day on the grit.

North Wales

Went into the Ogwen valley and headed to do the Devils Cellar, but found it was a bit thin for my liking so ended up on Central Route, which was turning to slush as we were on it. Once at the top we hit alot of deep snow and the wind was very strong which was making the going tough. But enjoyable.

Searching out the ice

In the last few days I've been searching for ice, Thursday went up into kinder Downfall but the ice was thin and alot of water was coming down. So headed to the left and ended up going up a steep section. Then headed to the car park, so at least we felt like we done something.

Then decided to go and have a look at Crowden Clough and the ice seemed thicker so ended up soloing it, this would be great for first timers.

Cold day at Stanag/Burbage

It was windy at the top, not a day for hanging around.

By the time you get to the top you cant feel your fingers.

Steve warming up.

Burbage trying to keep warm.

Stanage/Burbage

Been climbing today at Stanage but after a few routes it became very cold on the hands. The sun didn't come out and the wind was up. So ended up going to Burbage North and soloing routes to keep warm. Your hand did warm up after a few climbs, you just had to keep moving.

Me on Flying Buttress Direct

Had a great weekend on the grit. The weather was warm for this time of year, it made the conditions a bit greasy. Still got some great routes in.
